Eagle Transport Corporation entered the chemical market in 2011 and has seen consistent growth in the transportation of these products for the past 13 years. At the outset, we used "chemicals" to mean both liquid chemical products and dry bulk products. As we have expanded these portions of our business and added more dry bulk businesses to our portfolio, we are thrilled to celebrate both divisions of Eagle's customer base.
Houston, Texas
In the fall of 2020, Eagle sent a few team members to Houston, Texas, to set up the foundation for our presence in this market. Our first temporary location was inside a Quala Tank Wash, and we interviewed potential drivers that week in a hotel lobby.
Rob Kamsch, one of our driver trainers and operations managers at the time and now a field safety manager, stayed on-site during the week to manage the growing team while our Kingsport terminal handled all the loads and assignments. We operated with this structure for years until we found Terminal Manager James Unruh to serve as our permanent leader on-site.
Today, we operate out of the National Tank Services building with almost 30 team members, hauling chemicals, primarily caustic soda, some solvents, and polymers.
Dalton, Georgia
In the spring of 2023, Eagle Transport acquired Bulk Carriers, a Dalton-based dry bulk trucking company established in 1998. Their team has been a great addition to Eagle, and we appreciate their industry knowledge as our chemical and dry bulk operations continue to grow!
Today, our Dalton team operates with more than 20 industry professionals hauling dry bulk products.
Kingsport, Tennessee
In September 2011, Eagle Transport Corporation entered the chemicals market in Kingsport, TN, hauling our first load to Norwalk, CT, in October. Earlier this year, our Kingsport team moved into a brand-new facility that includes our own hopper wash to give our team greater flexibility and ease in preparing a trailer to haul new products between loads.
In 2011, we had five drivers, five trucks, and nine trailers. Today, Kingsport has grown to 40 drivers and trucks with more than 100 tank trailers to serve the different chemical and dry bulk markets we have expanded into. We are excited to see our Kingsport Terminal grow as a leader in our chemical business and safety program!
Beyond our three terminals focused on transporting chemical or dry bulk products, many of our terminals haul multiple product types. We are proud of the growing Eagle fleet and thankful to have many dedicated, cross-trained professional drivers serving our communities.
